Purple Seaweed and Pork Floss Phoenix Roll by Ju Ji Bakery

Starting from selling peanut candy with a small cart, they are now ubiquitous souvenir shops in Macau. Tourists really carry one bag each, you can tell how popular it is. The most talked-about item in recent years is the "Nori Seaweed Meat floss Phoenix Roll," which wraps a layer of crispy seaweed around a familiar egg roll, and puts meat floss inside the egg roll, making it fragrant and layered in texture! Besides egg rolls, their almond cookies and walnut cakes are also on many people's wish lists. Some people even say that "peanut candy" is the most heartwarming flavor they have!

Almond Cookies by "Tsui Hang Yuen" Bakery

Actually, in Macau, "Mui Kei Bakery" and "Lord Stow's Bakery" are the most famous for their almond cookies. In terms of taste, it is difficult to tell which one is better. However, Mui Kei Bakery's packaging is more suitable for gifting, so the editor used to buy this brand before. It's a well-established brand with over 70 years of history. The signature almond cookies are made using traditional hand-craft techniques and carefully baked in a charcoal oven according to an ancient method, making the cookie powder very smooth and the almond flavor very rich. Currently, there are many branches of Mui Kei Bakery throughout Macau where you can purchase them!

Salted Egg Yolk, Meat Floss and Almond Cookies from the most fragrant bakery

Another bakery famous for its almond cookies is Most Fragrant Bakery. Using the simplest and most original ingredients, through multiple complex steps, they give everyone the taste of ordinary happiness. Every time the almond cookies are freshly baked, standing outside the store will also be attracted by the fragrance, especially their "Egg Yolk Meat-filled Almond Cookies," which combines pork and egg flavor. They make fresh batches daily using purchased ingredients, so they are limited edition. If you want to buy them, it's difficult, you have to go early to grab them! I also highly recommend their Fresh Milk Cashew Cookies!

Portuguese Egg Tarts Andrew's Bakery

As introduced before on Macau Food Recommendations, this is a Portuguese egg tart specialty store that most tourists will queue up to visit. Besides eating it on-site or taking it back to the hotel for dinner, it's also very suitable as a souvenir. Because the traditional Portuguese egg tart recipe has been improved, the crust is crispier and the filling is softer. From visual, olfactory, and gustatory senses, the experience is perfect, you definitely need to buy several more to feel satisfied!

Belgian Waffles Liège with Sun Exposure (or Under the Hot Sun)

The boss from Belgium opened a real Belgian waffle shop in Macau. The boss insists on using imported Belgian ingredients and freshly bakes them every day. The waffles are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and beautifully packaged, making them perfect gifts. Their Belgian 70% dark chocolate flavor, with black and white chocolate drizzled on top, is very beautiful and highly recommended!

Rouqie Su Hualing Bakery

Having transitioned from a teahouse to a bakery over a century ago, the store's history is evident in its facade, giving it a nostalgic feel. The Hung Kee Bakery has been recommended multiple times by Michelin Guide. Its most popular items include meat floss pastries, chicken yolk pastries, and almond pastries. Especially the meat floss pastry, originally made from leftover ingredients from daily teahouse snacks, now uses high-quality ingredients and has become the store's signature dish.

Cookies - Le Palace Bakery

Located in the Lisboa Hotel, Le Gong Bakery mainly sells traditional Macau pastries such as pineapple buns, egg tarts, and walnut cakes. However, the most popular item is the "cashew cookie". It comes in three sizes: small, medium, and large. It's highly recommended to buy them before noon, otherwise they might be sold out! Their cashew cookies are not too sweet. The milky fragrance of the cookie itself is not as intense as that of Jenny Bakery’s bear biscuits in Hong Kong, but rather subtle. Each cookie is also embedded with plenty of cashews. The slightly soft cookie combined with the crispy cashews is really perfect for savoring slowly. They also sell assorted flavors, including chocolate, walnut, cashew, and almond, which are suitable for both gifting and personal consumption!

The eye-catching signboard with a yellow background and red characters marks this century-old dessert shop. It sells about 20 kinds of plums, candied fruit, lemons, etc. Many people buy several bags, or even boxes, at a time. It's hard to imagine how delicious it could be? Come try it for yourself! The most recommended purchase is licorice lemon. Besides its great taste, it also helps to suppress coughs and phlegm, clear heat and detoxify. Other items can be purchased according to your preferred health-preserving function or flavor.

Macau souvenir tips

It's common to buy souvenirs when traveling, but remember to check which souvenirs are prohibited from being brought home! For example, Taiwan prohibits bringing meat products back. If you're worried about buying souvenirs containing meat, you can also ask the store staff on the spot. With some advance preparation, your trip will be smoother!
