5️⃣ Japan Car Rental Insurance

According to Japanese law, drivers in Japan must purchase "compulsory insurance," which can also be supplemented with "Collision Damage Waiver" (CDW) and "Non-Operation Charges" (NOC).

✍🏻 Compulsory Insurance: In the event of a traffic accident, the insurance company will compensate for injuries or death to third parties. This includes compensation for third-party death or injury, property damage, vehicle repair, and passenger death or injury.

✍🏻 Collision Damage Waiver (CDW): After an accident, renters may be responsible for up to 150,000 yen in damages to third parties' property and the rental vehicle. If CDW insurance is added, this amount will be waived.

✍🏻 Non-Operation Charges (NOC): After an accident, renters may have to pay for the loss of income incurred by the vehicle being unable to operate. If NOC insurance is added at the time of rental, this expense will be waived.
